'S' (Whistle) This sign commands to whistle / horn. It can be used in other situations than level crossing approach. The 'J' plate allows the driver not to whistle / horn between 20:00 (8 p.m.) and 7:00 (7 a.m.).
Level crossing announcement This sign announces a non-kept level crossing where the train driver must stop then follow the orders given by the corresponding station, before starting again. Level crossing proximity This sign points out the level crossing announced by the sign above. – with a white strip, it locates a manual opening and closing level crossing; – without white strip, it locates a level crossing which gets closed automatically at track occupancy at ca. 20 metres from itself.
